Dr. Herz David - Neurosurgery / Neurochirurgia

Dr. Herz graduated from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, New York, where he also served his Residency in Neurological Surgery from 1970 until 1975. Dr. Herz is an American Board Certified Neurological Surgeon. In 1979 he joined the Butterworth Hospital, Grand Rapids, Michigan serving as a Lecturer and as member of the Craniofacial Reconstruction Service until 1991. Dr. Herz has been Chief of Neurosurgery at St. Mary's Hospital Grand Rapids, Michigan and Chief of the neuro-trauma and neuroscience programs there. At Blodgett Hospital, Grand Rapids, Michigan(now Spectrum Health, East campus), he has served as chief of special surgery, and as a member of the executive committee.

Dr. Herz has taught Neurosurgery as Clinical Professor at the College of Human Medicine, Michigan State University, East Lansing, Michigan. In addition to doing a broad range of neurosurgical (including microneurosurgical) operations, Dr. Herz has specific interests in the field of rehabilitation, pain management, pediatrics, brain tumor surgery, computer assisted stereotactic brain operations etc. He has published widely in many areas of Neurosurgery.

Dr. Herz has served in many prestigious professional organizations, including the: Congress of Neurological Surgeons (CNS), American Association of Neurosurgical Surgeons (AANS), Joint Council of State Neurosurgical Societies, Kent County Medical Society, Michigan State Medical Society, Michigan Association of Neurological Surgeons. He is a member of many scientific societies such as American College of Surgeons, American Medical Association, Western Michigan Neurological Society etc. Dr. Herz is married and the father of two children.
