Dr. Donald R. Cooney

Pediatric Surgery

   
Dr. Cooney graduated with honours from the Ohio State University, in 1970. He afterwards served his Internship at the Ohio State University until 1972. He completed his Residency in Surgery at the Indiana University Medical Center in 1975. In addition, he completed his Residency in Pediatric Surgery at the University of Buffalo in 1977. He also completed his Research Training at the Mayo Clinic in 1979. He is certified both in General Surgery and in Pediatric Surgery.

Dr. Cooney serves currently as Professor of Surgery and of Pediatrics at the Temple Clinic. He held the position of Surgeon-in-Chief and Director of pediatric surgery training programs at Buffalo (SUNY) and Columbus (Ohio State) Children's Hospitals. His main areas of surgical interest are: Trauma, Oncology, Newborn and Laser Surgery and Inflammatory Bowel Disease. He is the author of more than 100 publications on topics as trauma, pediatric surgery, neuroblastoma, etc.

Dr. Cooney is a distinct member of many professional and scientific societies, such as: University Surgeons, Robert M. Zollinger Surgical Society, American Pediatric Surgical Association, American College of Surgeons, Surgical Section of the American Academy of Pediatrics, British Association of Pediatric Surgeons, etc.
